Your eyes hurt. Your head aches. And there you sit, peering at your computer monitor. If you're one of the many people who use computers every day for work you will experience eyestrain as a result. According to research done by the Mayo Clinic, you blink seven times less than normal when you are staring at a computer screen all day, leaving you with dry itchy eyes, a headache, and blurred vision at the end of the day. Then, when you get home from work you log onto your online dating service of choice to spend hours sifting through hundreds of profiles to find your perfect match, right? WRONG. Or at least you shouldn’t.
If it’s a scientific proven fact that staring at a computer screen will mess with your vision and cause irritability, why would it be beneficial or fun to use an online dating service? I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to be dating I’d want it to be fun and not induce anxiety. Think about it: if your eyes are already strained and it’s making you cranky you are already going to be harboring irritable feelings towards the guy you pick out online. He didn’t do anything to you—you did it to yourself by staring at a computer screen for 12 hours today. Don’t take it out on Steve, he’s not your enemy. Online dating is.
This is why I can’t stress more the benefits of using an old fashioned matchmaking service. Here at It’s Just Lunch we don’t use computers to pick out your match, we hand select them! This means you aren’t using a computer and neither are we. Our minds are clear, our eyes aren’t strained, and most importantly: we are actually getting to know our clients and learning what makes them tick, as opposed to a robot matching you online based on preferences. Trust me: a real person beats a robot every time.
The other benefit to using a matchmaking service is that once we pick out your match you aren’t able to spend hours obsessing and analyzing every little detail of their profile and photo online—we don’t share photos! We give you a description of the person you are meeting and all of the reasons why we think they’ll be a great match for you, but we don’t give you so much information that you can find out every detail of their past. Often times in the dating world you are your own worst enemy. By eliminating your ability to strain yourself online for hours and analyze each and every profile picture, you will go into your date with a clear, happy mind. So tell me again, what are the benefits of online dating?
